Captain America: Brave New World is a 2025 Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film that features Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in his first solo outing as Captain America. Directed by Julius Onah, the film is the final movie in Phase Five of the MCU
Plot summary
The film continues Sam Wilson's story after the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Newly elected President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford) re-forms the Avengers, placing himself at the forefront.
Sam finds himself caught in an international conspiracy when the Leader, Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson), orchestrates an assassination attempt on Ross. The Leader, who was last seen gaining superhuman intelligence in The Incredible Hulk (2008), has been secretly giving Ross gamma-infused pills for years.
The Leader's plan is to instigate a war between the U.S. and Japan over adamantium deposits discovered on Celestial Island. During a televised press conference, Ross is exposed, and his gamma-infused pills cause him to transform into the monstrous Red Hulk.
In the film's climax, Captain America battles Red Hulk, managing to calm him down by appealing to the human side of Ross, which had been pushed away by his rage. In the end, Ross resigns and turns himself over to authorities, while Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) is exonerated.
