Bawaal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language adventure romantic drama starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor as a married couple facing challenges. Sajid Nadiadwala and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari produced the film, which was released on Amazon Prime Video in July 2023.
The story follows Ajay Dixit, played by Varun Dhawan, a history teacher in Lucknow concerned with his image, and his wife Nisha, played by Janhvi Kapoor. Their relationship is strained due to Ajay's treatment of Nisha, who has epilepsy. The couple's journey through Europe, visiting World War II sites, influences their relationship and prompts Ajay to confront his behavior.

This element of the film was widely condemned for trivializing the suffering of Holocaust victims. Notably, the Simon Wiesenthal Center requested its removal from Amazon Prime Video, and the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi also voiced disapproval.
