In Attack on Titan Season 3, Episode 10, titled "Friends," Kenny Ackerman's life and motivations are revealed through flashbacks as he lies dying. The episode also concludes the Uprising arc with Historia's coronation and sets up the next major confrontation. 

Plot summary

Kenny's final moments 

• Kenny's past with Uri: As Kenny bleeds out under a tree, he reflects on his life. Flashbacks reveal his history with Uri Reiss, Rod's brother and the previous inheritor of the Founding Titan. Kenny, initially determined to kill Uri, is stopped by Uri's immense power. However, Uri, recognizing Kenny as an Ackerman, a clan persecuted by the royalty, kneels and apologizes. This act of humility changes Kenny's heart, and he pledges his loyalty to Uri.
• Levi's true family: The flashbacks also show how Kenny found his dying sister, Kuchel, and discovered his nephew, Levi, in the Underground. Kenny chose to raise Levi by teaching him how to survive but eventually abandoned him, believing he wasn't fit to be a father.
• A new perspective on power: In his final conversation with Levi, Kenny explains that everyone is a slave to something: power, family, dreams. He admits that he too was a slave to his ambition for power, but Uri's example showed him that even the strongest can choose kindness. Before he dies, he gives Levi the Titan serum he had stolen from Rod. 

The end of the Uprising 

• The coronation: With the corrupted monarchy overthrown, Historia is officially crowned the new queen. She receives a hero's welcome, celebrated by the citizens of Orvud District for delivering the final blow to Rod Reiss's Titan form.
• Historia's "punch": Historia, emboldened by her new authority and Mikasa's encouragement, playfully "punches" Levi on the shoulder. This lighthearted moment shows her embracing her new role and the start of a more hopeful future for the people within the walls.
• Levi's rare smile: In a rare and touching display of emotion, Levi smiles and thanks his squad for their hard work. 

Setting up the next arc 

• The Beast Titan's return: In a post-credits scene, the Beast Titan, along with Reiner and Bertholdt, is shown at the base of Wall Maria.
• A new objective: The Beast Titan reveals his victory over the Armored Titan, indicating his superior strength. He then informs Reiner and Bertholdt that retrieving the "Coordinate" (Eren's Founding Titan power) is now the priority, delaying their plan to rescue Annie.
